PARKING PERMITS

STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF AND VENDOR REQUIREMENTS

All full/part time faculty, staff, vendors, and students (undergraduate or graduate) attending the Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen (HECM) who operate a motor/electric vehicle -- including motorbikes* -- to attend work and/or classes regularly or occasionally, are required to have a valid parking permit for each vehicle they may drive and park on campus.

PARKING PERMIT REGISTRATION AND FEE

2.$50 per permit (Valid until 31 August 2023); payable online with debit/credit card; no cash will be accepted.

3.Permits are available for pick up within 2-4 business hours of purchase in the Information Desk. Confirmation emails are no longer being sent.

4.You must present a current/valid Government-issued ID/Aggie ID card to obtain your permit(s).

5.Upon receipt, you must properly display and/or affix the parking permit to the vehicle as designed (adhere to the vehicle’s windshield, lower left-hand corner).

PARKING PERMIT PLACEMENT

Parking permits must be placed on the inside lower-left corner of the vehicle's front windshield, clearly visible and not obstructed.

Motorbikes shall display the parking permit on its windshield as described above. If the motorbike does not have a windshield, the permit should be affixed to the rear of the vehicle, as near as practical to the license plate, where the entire permit can easily be seen.

PARKING LOT INFORMATION

Students and Student Workers may only park in the 12th Man Lot.

Faculty, Staff and Vendors may only park in the Howdy Lot.

** Parking spaces in both lots marked “Reserved”, “Official Use Only”, "Visitor", or special reserved spaces for an individual or activity that are clearly marked are RESTRICTED from general parking. Please see the “ENFORCEMENT” section below for more information.

PARKING RULES & REGULATIONS

1.All motor vehicles and motorbikes are required to have a valid Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen parking permit when parked on university property.

2.Any area on campus (official university property) other than the HOWDY AND 12th MAN LOTS is considered a NO PARKING ZONE. Please see the “ENFORCEMENT” section below for more information.

3.All motor vehicles and motorbikes must be parked within the marked boundaries of one parking space or stall.

4.Designated handicap parking spaces are for the exclusive use of motor vehicles displaying current official county/state/federal-issued handicap hangtags or disabled license plates.

5.Only one linked license plate per permit may be parked on campus at any given time.

6.Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen requires registering the license plate number of the vehicle being parked on campus. Please see the “ENFORCEMENT” section below for more information.

7.Parking Permits are issued to a specific individual who is the primary owner and who assumes 100% responsibility.

8.Parking Permits are valid only if purchased from the Higher Education Center at McAllen. Permits may not be resold or transferred between individuals. Please see the “ENFORCEMENT” section below for more information.

VISITOR PARKING


Visitors to the Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen are always welcome. Parking for visitors is available in the designated spaces located in the Howdy Lot.

HECM Faculty, Staff, Vendors, and Students are restricted from parking in any space designated as “Visitor Parking”. Please see the “ENFORCEMENT” section below for more information.

There is no fee for parking in these areas, but a temporary parking permit must be picked up from the HECM Security Department in HECM 127.

University affiliates who park on campus are required to purchase a permit, therefore, we ask VISITORS to refrain from parking in areas designated for faculty, staff, and students, unless prior arrangements are made with the HEC Administration. TAMU COLLEGE/DEPARTMENT GUESTS

Guests should contact their department or event sponsor at the Higher Education Center at McAllen for parking information.

ENFORCEMENT


The HECM Security Staff and Administration have jurisdiction and the discretion to initiate and ultimately enforce the actions listed below to those individuals and their motor vehicle and/or motorbike who do not comply with all the HECM parking permit requirements outlined in this document.

1.Violators of the HECM parking permit requirements as outlined in this document are subject to ticketing (which may require the payment of a fine), immobilizing the motor vehicle or motorbike (vehicle booting) AND/OR the towing of the motor vehicle or motorbike. The owner of the motor vehicle or motorbike will be solely responsible for all costs associated with the release, relocation and/or storing of the motor vehicle or motorbike.

2.Additionally, the HECM Administration reserves the right to remove via tow any motor vehicle or motorbike that in any way is causing a safety hazard/concern or is deemed a public nuisance in or around the campus property. The owner of the motor vehicle or motorbike will be solely responsible for all costs associated with the release, relocation and/or storing of the motor vehicle or motorbike.
