Diverse, well-integrated partnerships are a cornerstone of watershed-based planning for protecting waterbodies from the complex impacts of nonpoint source pollution. Texas has consistently worked with partners across the state to develop and implement watershed protection plans (WPPs) to improve water quality.

However, more diverse partnerships with a variety of organizations are needed to coordinate, develop, and implement the over 50 Watershed Protection Plans that are either EPA-accepted or under development. These watersheds represent over 16 million acres, or almost 10% of the state.

The Spring 2026 Watershed Coordinator Roundtable will spotlight how conservation partnerships can drive meaningful water quality improvements across Texas.

Representatives from the Texan by Nature’s Texas Water Action Collaborative and the Texas A&M Forest Service’s Texas Partnership for Forests and Water will share real‑world examples and successes in linking conservation partnership funding to water quality and quantity in Texas.

Watershed coordinators from across the state will also discuss how their local partnerships were forged through trust‑building, shared goals, and community engagement.

A panel conversation and interactive group discussions will round out the day, giving participants practical tools for building partnerships in their own watersheds, identifying collaborators, and crafting opportunities to expand implementation funding.

An optional catered lunch will also be available for $20 and can be paid online during registration or with cash at the door.

Roundtable registration will start at 8:30 a.m., the program will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude no later than 4:00 p.m.

More information can be found on the Texas Watershed Planning page or by contacting Tina Hendon at [email protected] or 979-314-2472.

The Texas Watershed Planning Program is managed by the Texas Water Resources Institute and is funded through a Clean Water Act nonpoint source grant provided by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The institute is part of Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University.
