Join us for a how-to educational 1-hour program on the identification and management of algae, floating, submerged, and emergent aquatic vegetation species. First, we will start off by defining each aquatic plant category, identification characteristics, and species of aquatic vegetation commonly found in Texas ponds. Once identified, we will briefly discuss their biology and how that plays a role in the pond's ecosystem and management. Specific management strategies, including mechanical, biological, chemical, and even planting options, when applicable, will be covered for each grouping. At the end of the program, 30 minutes will be reserved for questions.
Participants are encouraged to send in photos of their emergent plants for discussion. Photos should be high quality (please read Photos for Aquatic Vegetation Identification) and sent to Brittany Chesser via email ([email protected]) by 5 pm on May 9th.
*1 IPM CEU will be offered by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
